Stepping stones

The project is one of two proposals for a narrow infill site, a void left behind by a former railway track, now a local park set on top of a parking garage with few if any qualities.

The building is a careful insertion into this void, making a new street along a café and restaurant, connecting the park to street.

The park is programmed with spaces for cultural events closest to the restaurant, leading to places for sport for youngsters, and a play area for children at the very rear, all flanked by ample seating possibilities. The neighbourhood park will cater for different age groups and different levels of activity.

The building is shaped as a series of blocks, based on a regular shape, but through subtraction and additions adapted to sight lines, existing building heights, daylight, and connectivity.

The corners created on every floor plan makes the most out of daylight and views on the narrow plot. The result is a highly characteristic shape made from building blocks in a human scale.

The plans are developed to be flexible and can accommodate either high end offices or flats.
